  Thallus appressed, forming rosettes to 10 cm wide. Lobes ±radiating, short, inflated, to 4 mm wide, branching subdichotomous, contiguous to margins or rarely discrete, in part imbricate especially towards centre; secondary lobes rare, unorientated, often imbricate. Upper surface often rugose, pale green-grey, not blackened. Cavity vivid chrome yellow above and below, covered with minute yellow crystals, not dissolving in K. Perforations rather few to almost absent, laminal, rounded or elongate, gaping, to 2 mm wide, flat with depressed margin or elevated with a distinct collar. Apothecia few, scattered, 3–6 mm wide, sessile to subpedicellate; disc concave to flat, red-brown, internally chrome-yellow; exciple persistent, often radially lacerate, flexuose below, rumpled-faveolate. Ascospores 2 per ascus, 40–58 × 32–37 µm; wall 4–4.5 µm thick. Pycnidia sparse, often clustered; ostiole blackened. Conidia 5–6 × 0.5 µm. CHEMISTRY: cortex K+ yellow (atranorin); medulla K+ pink-orange, KC-, C-, P+ yellow-orange (thamnolic acid, ±stictic acid, ?calycin, ±UV+ orange pigment).
     
  Occurs in N.S.W. on canopy twigs of Nothofagus moorei in rainforest, thallus sometimes irregular through fragmentation or encircling small twigs; endemic.
